Sue McCarthy, owner of the Women’s Closet Exchange and four related businesses has been building her businesses for over twenty years. During that time, she has been voted to two terms on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Resale and Thrift Stores. She is also the Past President of the St. Louis Resale Association and is recognized by the Small Business Association as an expert in the field of resale. Her expertise and the store’s reputation have earned her national recognition as the best resale store in the state. In 2002 Sue won the resale industry’s Outstanding Service Award. Locally, her store has been voted the Best Resale Shop by the Riverfront Times and St. Louis Magazine.
Sue is frequently asked to be a motivational speaker at meetings and conferences and is a paid consultant to other small business owners. She gives back to the community with her newest store, Sweet Charity, where she sells donated items and gives the profits to a different local charity each month, often helping a woman or family in trouble.
Sue travels the world looking for unique and unusual things for the Women’s Closet Exchange from new markets. Her stores offer diversity of all the things women love – clothing, jewelry, shoes, furniture and home furnishings. Her stores have been given the five star rating.
Sue is married and has two daughters and four grandchildren. The Women’s Closet Exchange is located at Gravois and Sappington in the shopping center next to Johnny’s Market. With the Women’s Closet Exchange, you look like a million without spending one!
